About Gordon Chen

Gordon A. K. Chen is Managing Director of Ward Howell International covering the Greater China market. Most recently, he was Managing Director of PDI Ninth House Greater China, a premier global leadership solutions company.

Gordon has wide and in-depth knowledge of the corporate and business worlds as well as over 25 years of leadership experience in combination with a strong management consulting background. Starting his career as an engineer, he has experience in general management, business development and marketing of diversified businesses from medical equipment and electronics industry to software and management consulting, with a proven track record of achieving results in highly competitive market.

Prior to PDI Ninth House, Gordon was Chairman of Commit Info Group, a Master Reseller of the Business Intelligence Tool Qlikview in China and President Asia of Maxager Technology. This is a US software company that pioneered an innovative platform for continuous profit improvement. Before that, Gordon was Managing Director Asia of Alexander Proudfoot PLC, a London Stock Exchange listed company. He was responsible for all business activities in Asia and accountable for the profitability and growth of the company in the region.

Previously, Gordon was an Executive Director of Lippo Group, a listed diversified group in Hong Kong with business activities in China and all over the Asia Pacific. His responsibilities included monitoring subsidiaries and associate companies to fulfill their objectives in line with the group plans. Prior to that, Gordon was President North Asia of Alexander Proudfoot PLC (that he rejoined later in his career). He played the lead role in the development of their clients in the region. Gordon also spent a number of years as senior consultant with Hay Management Consultants Asia where he led in a variety of HR consulting assignments successfully in human resources management across the region.

Gordon was born in Malaysia and has lived in Hong Kong since 1988. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications and a Master in Business Administration degree. He speaks fluent English, Bahasa, Mandarin, Cantonese, and other Chinese dialects. Apart from work, Gordon is an accomplished and keen amateur golfer.
